Meet your representatives

Rachel Louise Dell
Elected

My name is Rachel Dell and I am standing for Oropi School Board. I have loved living in Oropi for the past five years with my husband Gregg, Elena (in year 4) and Jonathan (in year 2). I would love the opportunity to give something back to the school. I have enjoyed being involved with many class trips; assisting a reading programme, helping on Garden to Table, helping out on school events and managing a sports team. When my kids were younger I was also Treasurer of Oropi Playgroup and generally just enjoy being involved in our community. A little about me. I enjoy running, yoga, coffee and beekeeping. My garden is sadly overgrown. My career includes senior roles for ANZ Wealth in project governance, project management and implementation roles across IT and business. I was the marketing director for Waiariki Instititute of Technology and have was also part of the team at Tourism Rotorua Marketing. I’m experienced with reporting to Boards and representing organisations at national and international levels. I studied Phys Ed and Tourism at Otago Uni and business management at Waikato. I’ve even studied beekeeping to learn about my new hobby! All of this means I have skills in analysis, strategic thinking, financial management and marketing that would serve me well as a member of the Board. However, above everything else I am a passionate parent wanting the best for all of our kids.

Andrew Michael Dishroon
Elected

Hi, I'm Andrew Dishroon, married to Amy and we have two children, Lilly (9), and Pippa (7). I love Oropi school, my kids love Oropi School. I believe we are part of something unique and special, so my heart in putting my name forward in joining the board of trustees is that I want to serve all the great projects and initiatives Oropi is offering our kids and community. I would love to come alongside our principal, staff and teachers and encourage, support and back them in what can be a very demanding and challenging and yet incredibly rewarding vocation. Our children benefit from a school which looks to the future, that is inclusive and champions all walks of life.

Mark Weston
Elected

Kia ora & Ni hao, my name is Mark Weston and I am standing for re-election of a three-year position on the Oropi School Board. For those of you who don’t know me I am the current chairperson of the board of trustees and have been in this role for the last two and a half years. I have two children currently at Oropi school, Dylan in Te Ohanga and Emma in Korimako and I am married to Mrs Weston who teaches in Piwakawaka!

I work as an auditor / accountant of a local Tauranga Chartered Accountants that has had a strong involvement within the Oropi Community, my main focus of audit work is with Charitable Organisations therefore my strengths lie within the analysis of these organisations systems and financial statements with a view to help them become more efficient and meet their charitable objectives.

I have a passion for the play-based learning philosophy that Oropi School has embraced and have been excited to see it develop into a beacon school for this learning approach which I feel has helped to make Oropi such a sought-after school to attend.

Over the last three years I have been proud to have been part of a team that has seen the school evolve to where it is today, exciting projects such as the Kokako garden, the development of the gully, play based learning and Oropi’s China connection definitely have been highlights for me as these definitely enrich our children’s learning opportunities.

I would love to have the opportunity to be voted onto the board for another term and be part of what lies ahead.
